5 Reasons why I love monsoons

Monsoon is my favorite season. It should be a no-brainer after reading the name of my blog or what this blog is about. The light drizzles, the thunderstorms, the gurgling clouds, and soft chilly winds, what is not to love about monsoons? Maybe how roads turn slippery after the beauty of it goes away, and those careless drivers. Yeah, can agree with that.

There are so many reasons to love this beautiful season, but here are my top 5 reasons why I love monsoon the most.

1. The scent of wet mud

The earthy aroma of when it rains. Who can deny how refreshing that scent is? One whiff and it can calm your raging soul. You can sit for hours under the shade near a garden and let the scent of wet mud do its magic on you.

I know it might not be possible in big cities, but if you live near a forest or have a garden or lawn in the front yard, you can sit on your balcony or near the window and enjoy the enriching scent of wet mud as it rains.

2. The storm that paints the city gray

I know many people don’t love the darkness when it storms. It’s bad or worse weather for them, but for me, it opens the gate of imagination. Have you ever sat and just watched as the clouds moved with the rhythm of the wind? The color of the sky when it thunders in various patterns.

How breathtaking it is just to observe the wonders of nature. And for creative people like me, it not only gives me joy but also relaxes my mind and soul and gives me the best time to craft my art.

I’m a sucker for cozy, dark days. So I crave for these days to come, and I can unwind to its music and let the world stop for a while.

3. The sound of rain

Nothing can beat the soothing sound of rain, be it soft splatters on your window or heavy pounding on your roof. It calms your mind, body, and soul. I can sit and listen to the sound of the rain as long as it lasts.

Night rains are best, as I’m a lover of nighttime as well. Just sit by the window and watch the rain cover the city in its glory. The best way to enjoy that view, shut down all the lights and electronics, light up candles, scented candles is a plus, and let yourself drift in the calmness and beauty of rain.

4. It pauses the chaotic hustle and bustle

Today’s world is full of competitive hustle and bustle. The roads are full of traffic, be it early mornings or midnight, you can find it active throughout. When it rains and storms, it gives a mandatory pause to this chaotic world.

The roads get empty when people try to find shelter, there are fewer honks and beeps that annoy every living creature. It becomes peaceful and quiet.

5. It soothes the soul

More than summers or winters, the rains are the ones that soothe my soul. The gurgle of clouds, the tress that dances with the storm, the sound of a thunderstorm, everything about it is just magnificent.

I have already written a post where I mentioned what you can do to unwind when it rains. Whatever you decide to do, take it slow and enjoy and see how this weather calms and relaxes you. Rainy days and nights are the best way to nourish your inner self, the one that has been lost in the chaos of this world.

These were my reasons to love monsoons the most. If you love the weather for some other reason or have some more points to add, do let me know in the comments.
